In the final episode of Akoni Tech Talks: The Dubai Mini Series, we sit down with Harsha Sosa, a breathwork facilitator and empowerment guide with Revive Community, to explore and discuss navigating personal growth, relationships, and the role of technology in our lives. Her story is one of transformation, empowerment, and a reminder that connection — whether with ourselves, others, or the tools we use — can be deeply healing.
Revive Community: A Love Child of Transformation
When Harsha and her partner Aaron founded Revive Community, it wasn’t just a project — it was the culmination of their shared journey. Both came from wounded pasts, bringing their contrasting upbringings into their relationship, which naturally led to clashes. But through personal development seminars, group work, and deep introspection, they discovered the healing power of community.
Revive Community embodies this philosophy: the idea that each individual holds the answers within themselves. As Harsha beautifully put it, “You are the medicine.” The community provides a space where people can share their unique gifts, lean on one another, and cultivate empowerment. It’s not about giving answers but fostering an environment where members discover their own.
Technology and the Journey to Self
In today’s tech-dominated world, the challenge lies in balancing our humanity with constant innovation. Harsha likens our pursuit of personal growth to the evolution of technology: “We’re always looking for the next version of ourselves, but it’s important to honour the versions that came before.” She highlights the parallel between generations of tech and our own ancestral lineage, urging us to appreciate the foundation on which we build our future selves.
Despite its challenges, technology can also be a bridge to self-discovery. For those hesitant to share personal struggles with others, Harsha suggests starting a private dialogue with tools like AI to explore emotions and potential solutions. This approach doesn’t replace human connection but can act as a stepping stone toward deeper self-awareness.
Emotions as Human Technology
Harsha challenges the misconception that emotions hinder efficiency. Instead, she views emotions as an integral part of our “human technology.” Suppressing feelings only drains us, while embracing and processing them leads to greater creativity, efficiency, and well-being. “The emotion is the efficiency of the human body,” she explains. Whether it’s a cry, frustration, or joy, emotions are a powerful tool for recalibration and productivity.
Healing Through Tech and Connection
The rise of mental health apps, mindfulness platforms, and online support groups has made healing resources more accessible. Harsha emphasises that technology isn’t the solution itself but a mirror reflecting the humanity we seek. It can act as a bridge, connecting us to the emotions, relationships, and inner truths we may struggle to face directly.
Even in family dynamics, where technology can complicate communication, Harsha encourages a reflective approach. Instead of focusing on the content shared through tech, she suggests viewing it as a mirror for the individual’s inner state. By removing judgment and looking beyond the screen, we can foster deeper understanding and compassion.
Embracing Authenticity
One of the hardest challenges people face is embracing their true selves, especially in a world where fitting in often feels like a priority. Harsha admits it’s a daunting journey—one that may involve losing connections and facing societal exile. But she assures us that authenticity attracts the right people and opportunities. “Even one step toward your true self creates a new wiring system,” she says, reminding us that the reward of genuine connection far outweighs the fear of rejection.
The Future of Wellness and AI
As artificial intelligence continues to evolve, Harsha sees potential for it to complement traditional wellness practices. AI reflects the energy we bring to it, and if we approach it with hope, humanity, and positivity, it can grow into a supportive tool that enhances our lives. “AI can be your ultimate assistant,” she says, but its true potential lies in how we model its development through our interactions.
A Call to Presence
When asked what piece of technology she’d bring back, Harsha’s answer was a nostalgic nod to simplicity: the corded phone. “You just sit, talk, and connect—you can’t do anything else,” she reflects. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful connections happen when we’re fully present in the moment.
Through her work with Revive Community and her insights on tech and empowerment, Harsha offers a powerful reminder: true connection—whether with ourselves, others, or the tools we use—starts with embracing our humanity.
