Salary: £60,000 – £80,000 per annum (Depending on experience).

Note* This position requires the candidate to be on-site for three days per week. Visa sponsorship cannot be provided for this role.
 

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Business Development to drive our company’s growth strategies. This role entails identifying new business opportunities, expanding our market presence, and achieving revenue growth targets. The ideal candidate will possess proven leadership skills and a successful track record in business development.

This position is our first hire for the Business Development team in the UK and therefore comes with substantial responsibility for our go-to-market strategy and footprint, with a large degree of on our business development process and strategy alongside the executive team at Akoni.

SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development plan aligned with the company’s overall objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize target markets and industries for business expansion.
  • Strong experience in tendering and bidding processes, including preparation, submission, negotiation, and compliance with regulations, is required for this role.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitors, and potential opportunities.
  • Analyze customer needs and market demand to inform product development and positioning.
  • Identify and engage potential strategic partners, clients, and collaborators.
  • Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial terms.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
  • Work closely with the sales team to drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Explore opportunities for expanding the company’s product or service offerings.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to align offerings with market needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for strategic accounts.
  • Lead and mentor the business development team, providing guidance and support.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly report on the success of business development initiatives.
  • Utilize data and analytics to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Build a strong professional network within the tech and business community.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges in business development initiatives.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or a related role in the technology sector for 6+ years.
  • Strong understanding of the tech industry, market trends, and competitive landscape.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-oriented with a track record of achieving and exceeding business targets.
  • Having knowledge of the Bidding/Tendering process and supplier registration is a must.
  • Having knowledge of ServiceNow or a similar Platform is highly desirable for this role.
